Shakya is the founding editor-in-chief, creative director and publisher of the award-winning photography magazine Raw View. Established in 2007 as Photo Raw, the international magazine focused on documentary photography with an artistic approach.
In 2018, Raw View Magazine entered a new phase when it transformed into Raw View Editions, an independent publishing house. Still focusing on artistic documentary photography, Raw View Editions produces limited edition photography books with an emphasis on personal projects that explore individualistic themes and narratives.
I’m available for curatorial works and photo editing jobs.
I’m involved and focused on how to make more tactile, visually stimulating and aesthetically profound photography publications. Constantly observing and investigating materials and ways to do publications that make sense both content and design wise but also ecologically.
I’m more and more intrigued in design as well. I embrace publication design as its own art form. Every book, zine or bounded object has to go through a thorough thinking and designing process.
In future I’ll be interested in doing more experimental publications and volumes that are less of a burden to nature.
Currently, I’m developing a new publishing series which will be launched in 2024.
